DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) - Dangerous heat is in the forecast for the next several days. Heat index temperatures will be reaching at least 100°F each day. Significant rain chances are not expected until next weekend. The higher storm chances will be able to help conditions off back to average.
In the tropics, Chris has become a category one hurricane with 105 mph sustained wind at the center. Through the day Wednesday, it is likely that the storm will get a little stronger. Chris will be passing along the Gulf Stream, which will provide ample heat energy to keep the storm strong. By the later part of the week, it will transition into a subtropical system and begin to weaken.
