DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — We hit our hottest temperature of 2020 on Saturday when Dothan peaked at 93 degrees. The heat continued both Sunday and today as temperatures made it into the 90s each day. There are a few storms just south of I-10, and we could see one or two in the Wiregrass this evening.
Tuesday will be warm again with temperatures in the upper 80s and a better chance for a few isolated storms.
Widespread rain won’t move into the area until mid-week as a plume of moisture invades the Florida Panhandle. Wednesday will see a few storms throughout the day, but Thursday and Friday look like the best chance for rain during the work week.
The weekend forecast is a little uncertain right now because of the tropical depression currently residing in the Bay of Campeche near the Yucatan Peninsula. It is currently expected to move north through the Gulf in the next 4 to 5 days, but models are struggling to pinpoint it’s future track due to it’s current disorganized state. If it tracks further to our west, we can expect to stay drier and hotter; however, any eastward movement will greatly increase our rain chances and decrease our temperatures.
