DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)- A tropical system will impact our area this weekend. As the system moves into the central Gulf, it will bring widespread rain and tropical storm force winds along the coast as early as Friday afternoon. Showers will start out scattered late Friday evening for the Wiregrass and then become more widespread through Saturday afternoon. Winds will be weak inland but could be as strong as 35-55 mph along the coast.
The system will pull away pretty quickly on Saturday evening giving way for sunshine on Sunday. Highs will be back in the lower 80s at that point. Another strong cold front will move through late Monday into Tuesday and may bring some stronger storms, something that we will monitor. Cooler and drier air will follow by mid-week next week.
