DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — After a stormy Tuesday afternoon, conditions will be drier going into the later evening and overnight. Just a few stray showers or storms are expected.
On Thursday, some drier air will move into the region and that will help to lower the storm chances briefly in the Wiregrass. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the lower 90s as a result.
By Friday and for the weekend, storm chances will gradually increase, but the great chances will be holding off until next week. That is when some of Dorian’s moisture could have an influence on our weather.
Tropical storm Dorian is now in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Over the next several days, it is expected that conditions will be favorable for the storm to become a little stronger. Going into the weekend, it is likely that Dorian will be approaching south Florida coast now possibly as a category one hurricane. It is possible that we can feel the effects of the storm in the Wiregass and along the Gulf Coast. There are a lot of variables in this forecast and we will have a better idea on the path once the storm is back in the Atlantic.
Elsewhere in the tropics, tropical depression six has now become tropical storm Erin with 40 mph wind. It is well off the east coast of the USA. It could become a little stronger, but there is no threat to the USA at this time.
