DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Today’s high temp of 97 degrees is tied for the hottest temperature of 2020 for Dothan, but we aren’t even close to the hottest time of year just yet. Tonight will remain very warm and muggy as temperatures only drop into the mid-70s.
Tuesday and Wednesday continue the trend of mid-90s that started over the weekend. The next two days will also reintroduce better chances for rain after many people stayed dry the past few days.
Thursday’s slightly cooler temperatures are a result of additional rain and cloud cover. But don’t be fooled! It will be another uncomfortable day due to the humidity.
As we kick off the Fourth of July festivities, a stationary front will come from the north and move through the Southeastern US. This will keep the rain chances right around 50% while our temperatures hover close to 90 degrees.
If there are three things you need to know this week, I would say this: keep an umbrella in the car, stay hydrated throughout the day, and always check the backseat for children and pets. Heat indices will be at or above 100 degrees for at least the next 4 days, so leaving a child in the car is NOT an option.
