WDHN Storm Team: Severe storms have moved out, but more to come this week

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Torrential rainfall fell throughout the Wiregrass early this afternoon, and multiple severe thunderstorms brought very high wind gusts to the area. However, things have finally calmed down. We could see another few showers and stray storms overnight, so this might be a good night for those that enjoy falling asleep to the rain.

We will see a return of showers and storms tomorrow around noon once again. The potential for a few severe storms exists primarily for our western counties. The marginal risk includes chances for 60 mph wind gusts and small hail. Our temperatures will be cooler than usual. Many residents won’t even make it out of the upper 80s tomorrow.

Friday and Saturday will very likely be wet for much of both days. The chances for storms during Fourth of July festivities are high, so you may want to discuss moving around your holiday plans.

Temperatures will stay around 90 degrees through mid-week as rain chances taper off just a touch to 40% by the time we get to Tuesday and Wednesday.
