DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It was mighty chilly this morning! Morning lows right at freezing with wind chills closer to 20 degrees. We made it into the low 50s this afternoon, and we’re about to drop to freezing yet again with more “feels like temperatures” in the 20s!
Wednesday will be a bit warmer with most people making it into the middle 50s. Winds will be much calmer: out of the NNW at 5-10 mph. Sunshine will be abundant throughout the day.
Thursday’s highs in the low and middle 60s will make for a very pleasant day. Increasing cloud cover throughout the day indicates that our next rain chance is on its way.
Friday will likely have showers and a couple rumbles of thunder primarily in the morning. A few showers might stick around behind the main line, but the evening looks much drier. Our high temperature of 65 will likely come during the early morning hours before dropping into the upper 40s and low 50s. We’ll stay in the 50s for the rest of the day.
Saturday looks a bit drier than previously expected, but a few scattered showers will still be possible. Some models are keeping our temperatures in the 40s, so don’t be surprised if your afternoon high doesn’t make it into the 50s like most of the Southeast U.S. should.
Sunday will be another solid rain chance with showers likely throughout the majority of the day. Temperatures will be held to the 50s because of the widespread rain and dense cloud cover.
Monday and Tuesday will both be drier and mostly sunny. Temperatures should be back in the upper 30s and low 40s for lows and in the 60s for highs.
*Previous data suggested a a very serious cold snap for the beginning of next week. We’ll continue watching to see if there is any potential for that; however, the latest model runs have not come to the same conclusion.
