WDHN Storm Team: More storms expected Friday

Weather

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Rain and storm chances will be increasing through the next several days. The extra cloud cover and humidity will help afternoon temperature to be a little cooler. This pattern will be staying in place into next week.

In the tropics, the National Weather Service is watching two areas for potential development in the Atlantic. The one closer to the United States is drifting towards the Bahamas and may increase rain chances for Florida. There near zero chances for this tropical wave to develop into a tropical depression or storm in the next 5 days.

Further to the east in the central tropical Atlantic, there is a more robust tropical wave that has a better chance to become a tropical depression or storm by the weekend. The Hurricane Center is giving it a 70% chance of developing over the next 5 days. This system will be something to keep an eye on for the east coast of the United States going into later next week.
