WDHN Storm Team: Hot & dry weekend

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The hot and dry pattern will continue into the weekend. Temperatures will be trending well above seasonable averages in the lower to middle 90s.

Rain and storm chances will be low over most of the next seven days. This will be due to the path of what is now tropical depression nine.

Tropical depression nine organized just to the north of the Bahamas. As of the 4 pm CDT advisory form the National Hurricane Center, it is a weak system with 30 mph wind at the center. Over the weekend, it is expected to become the season’s next tropical storm.

The current projections are for tropical depression nine to remain well east of the southeastern United States. Next week, it is possible for this storm to strengthen into a category 1 hurricane as it heads toward Bermuda.

Since we will not have any of the associated moisture from tropical depression nine moving into the southeast, rain and storm chances will be very low for the better part of the seven day forecast.
