Local schools to close ahead of severe weather


The following school systems have announced they are planning to close Thursday due to severe weather.

  • Houston County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Coffee County Schools will be closed.
  • Northside Methodist, Early Heady Start-Dothan, and Providence Christian School and Child Care will close Thursday.
  • Covenant Preschool and Childcare – Dothan will be closed.
  • Enterprise Christian Learning Center will be closed.
  • Wiregrass Christian Academy in Enterprise will be closed.
  • Bows and Buckles Learning Center in Slocomb will be closed.
  • Brannon Stand Christian Academy will be closed.
  • Vivan B. Adams will be closed.
  • Christian Kids Academy in Dothan will be closed.
  • Bethlehem Child Development Center will be closed.
  • Emmanuel Christian School will be closed.
  • Ridgecrest Development Center will be closed.
  • Dothan City Schools, including Head Start, Early Education and all after school activities. Parents should receive an All Call on the matter.
  • Ozark City Schools is set to close.
  • Daleville City Schools will be closed Thursday. All after school activities are canceled.
  • Geneva City Schools will close Thursday.
  • Geneva County Schools will close as well.
  • Bows and Buckles Learning Center in Slocomb will be closed Thursday.
  • The Lakeside School will be closed.
  • Early County and Miller County Schools are set to close.
  • Henry County Schools will close Thursday and reopen Friday.
  • Abbeville Christian Academy will close Thursday.
  • Fort Rucker schools will be closed. Military personnel are waiting for a decision from Enterprise City Schools now.
  • Elba High has not yet decided to close yet and will send out information later if needed.
  • Wallace Community College (Dothan and Eufaula) classes canceled.
  • Enterprise State Community College will be closed Thursday and reopen Friday.
  • Troy University’s Coleman Center for Early Learning and Family Enrichment will close Thursday and reopen Friday.

In addition, Coffee County School District has canceled Wednesday’s after school activities and will make a decision later this evening. New Brockton High said it will dismiss Wednesday’s classes at 2:40 p.m.
