DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – School furniture and equipment will all have to move as Dothan City Schools begins a new era in August.
“Some of the details is moving the books from one school to another school and or furniture from one school to another,” DCS Chairman Mike Schmitz said.
With this being a big project its calls for some special reinforcement. Students from Northview High School have assisted teachers and staff in making sure things are in place for the new school year.
Northview students Tommy Pitts and Aaliyah Brown say the most difficult part has been getting those heavy boxes of textbooks in and out of the school.
“When you hear of like a ton of books I don’t think of textbooks I thought it would be fast but it caught me off guard and it ended up being a lot,” Pitts said.
Pitts told me that the effort taught them the value of teamwork.
“As much as many boxes as it is and we don’t have that much time we have to get one or two people to carry a box if its too heavy and just work together to get things done,” Pitts said.
“We know that the staff can’t do it all because they have to work also so we just taking the time out to help them,” Brown said.
Wired students will also be assisting moving school items over the summer apart of the Wired ministry camp.
