Wolves looking to get region win for first place

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Friday night marks the final week of high school region play, but there are still about a dozen teams that are on the bubble.

The Dothan High Wolves have earned a spot in Class 6A, Region 2. The Wolves’ fate is in their paws. A victory by Dothan against Sidney Lanier Friday night would give them first place.

If Dothan loses, it could knock the Wolves to the third or fourth playoff position and put them on the road.

“If we win, we take first place in the region. If we lose, we can drop to third or fourth place,” Coach Smitty Grider said. “Winning the region is one of our goals from the beginning of the season. I told the team that they should be embracing the challenge.”

It’s been a number of years since a Dothan school has hosted a playoff game.
