Wiregrass youth softball team take third at national tournament in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala (WDHN) — Over the past weekend, the South Alabama Lady Titans 14U travel softball competed in the USSSA national championship held in Gulf Shores.

The girls went an impressive 4-2 at the tournament and played to the semi-finals before losing to the eventual champions.

The Titans bounced back in the third place game winning that round and finishing third out of 24 teams.

In one of the games, Dale County’s Ella Brooke Barefield hit a walk-off triple to give the Titans a win.

This team has stuck together for numerous years and are competing in their first season of 14U where before they were in the 12U age bracket.

The team prides themselves on dedication, hard work and family.
