A Wiregrass coach received the “Life Saving” award at Alabama High School Association Media Day in Montgomery Wednesday.
Dale County High coach Don Moore helped stripe the gridiron at Warrior Stadium for Friday night’s game against the Ariton Purple Cats.
This summer, he along with several of his coaches during practice saved the life of a 15-year-old player by the use of an AED device to shock the heart of the young man who went into cardiac arrest.
Alabama High School Athletic Executive Director, Steve Savarese, recognized Moore for his actions.
“Hopefully we never have to do this again, but take these classes seriously because that’s what saved this young man’s life,” Moore said.
Moore said it’s essential for the coaches to take that life-saving class offered by their school districts and state.
