Battling cancer Wayne “Wild Thang” Ward gave a gutsy performance
in front of a few hundred pro wrestling fans at the Houston
County Farm Center over the weekend. Shortly after receiving chemo for stage three lymphoma Wayne debuted in his first professional match
in two decades taking on his long time friend “Dirty” Larry Brock.
“Wild Thang” won eight minutes into the match.
He took a beating in the ring and could hardly breath, but he would be victorious at the
eight minute mark of the first round.
Thang would go on to say what made him decide to wrestle that night, “To let people know about cancer and the cost of the medicines I would do it in a minute.”
“Priceless, awesome. He’s a good friend and you know he slipped one on me, if you know what I mean. I love him, thank you and everything.”
A collection was taken at the wrestling match to help defray the cost of an experimental cancer medication for Wayne.
