Wallace Community College plans for new athletic facility

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Today Wallace Community College unveiled their plan to build a new athletic facility this august.

The near ten thousand square foot facility will be named after Johnny Oppert who got athletics started at Wallace College back in 1965.

The new facility will mostly benefit the softball and baseball programs as there will be three new batting cages and two lanes for pitching mounds.

Currently, the teams do not have a proper place to practice when inclement weather occurs says baseball coach Mackey Sasser.

It is a first in the Alabama Community College Conference and the school hopes it will benefit recruiting.

WCC is asking for community help in funding the august project, if you would like to pitch in and help call or email Tracy Brooks at 334-556-2626 or tbrooks@wallace.Edu
