Tyra will look to carry success from Abbeville to Ashford

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — After a 2-8 season, the Ashford Yellow Jackets have brought in a new head football coach.

Robin Tyra joins the staff having garnered much success at his old school of Abbeville. During his years there, he lead his old Yellow Jackets to four playoff appearances in his six year tenure.

Ashford has not had a winning season since 2014 and coach Tyra is keen on bringing back a winning culture to his new Yellow Jacket team.

“You know I had an opportunity to take a chance to see if we can mold and develop this team. I keep hearing people talking about what Ashford was and I would like to see some that happen here too,” the new Ashford coach said.

Tyra believes in the players on his team and trusts that if they take his leadership, winning will come.

“You know adopting the approach of what I am. You know we want to be a physical, a very well conditioned, a discipline team on the field and be very business about where we are going,” Tyra said.
