(WDHN) — On Wednesday, Troy kicker and punter Tyler Sumpter announced that he’ll enter the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. He has handled placekicking and punting duties for the past two seasons for the Trojans.
Following the news, the number one candidate to replace Sumpter is the 2018 Northview high graduate Jack Martin. Here, you see martin kicking a 53-yard field goal in his senior season at Rip Hewes.
As a Troy freshman, Martin handled kick off duties this past season for the Trojans. Last summer, Martin talked about his decision to become a Trojan.
“Coming from Dothan this is like my hometown. I have a lot of people here supporting me,” Martin said.
Beginning this spring, Martin will be competing with several others in his position to become the starting kicker.
