SLOCOMB, Ala (WDHN) — Last Monday it was Slocomb’s Gracen Hodges who would sign to play softball at Coastal Alabama, today it was her teammate, Maggie Hales.
Hales is a Senior catcher who was open about how she and Hodges talked about the two of them signing there.
“We talked to each other about, she visited first and came back and told me how it was. Then I visited and met coach Childress, I knew that is where I wanted to be and continue my career there,” Hales said. “Though we didn’t end up signing on the same day but we are going there together. And, she is probably one of the best people I could go there with.”
Right before Hales signed her letter of intent, Slocomb Head Coach, Ashley Holcombe Bell spoke on behalf of the catcher. During the speech, Bell said that Hales was similar to having another coach on the diamond due to her knowledge for the game as well as her ability to help others.
As she enters Coastal Alabama, Hales will take her general education classes with hopes of becoming a teacher and later down the line, a softball coach.
