KINSTON, Ala. (WDHN) — The Kinston bulldogs program has fallen on hard times over recent years, but a new head man is determined to bring the 1A program back to prominence.

Coach Rudy Free said his players have had five coaches in the last four years. Free stated he’s in Kinston to stay, and he wants to instill confidence in the young men on the team.

“We need to work hard and do a good job. Most of our players will play both offense and defense and learn to do a couple of things,” Free said.

In Class 1A, Region 2, the Kinston Bulldogs face some pretty tough competition which includes perennial powerhouses like Brantley and Elba. In addition, Florala and Mckenzie have shown improvements during the offseason.

Kinston opens their season against former coach Jason Wambles’ Samson Tigers.
