Riggs hopes the Raiders can win games despite making improvements

Jamie Riggs is the winningest high school coach in Alabama history. He won most of those victories at T.R. Miller in Brewton.

Following a short retirement, Riggs took over the Houston Academy Raiders last year going 7-4 and made it to the first round of the playoffs.

Coach Riggs said his club is now better, but that may not translate into more victories.

“We made progress but we have a long way to go. We made some progress this year, but we can be better but not have as many wins,” Riggs said. The other teams in the conference were young last year, but they won’t be that young this year.”

The Raiders will host Zion Chapel in an exhibition game at Northcutt Field.
