HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — The Headland High School cheerleading team is preparing to compete in the Alabama state cheer competition Saturday.
This is the first time the team is competing. They started practicing back in the summer, went into regionals, and received their bid there.
Now that the team is getting ready for the state competition, practice consists of complete run-throughs of their routines that way when it’s time for the state competition they are confident in what they’re supposed to do.
“We were really hyped after our regionals and then we kind of started getting stressed a little after seeing our score sheet saying what we need to work on,” Co-Captain Anna Fischer said. “Last practice, I think, was the most excited we’ve ever been because we hit full out a lot, so we’re just so excited.”
The state final is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.
