DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Girl’s fastpitch softball is one of the fastest growing sports in America.
With school now over, travel softball is taking place across the southeast.
Thursday night, the Dothan Heat practiced before heading to a tournament in Valdosta, Georgia this weekend. Several of the girls have already made their high school varsity and JV teams. For the Heat coaching staff, softball is about fundamentals and playing together as a team.
“About half of my team was playing Varsity in their respective high schools and I watched them. They did a fine job for their Varsity and JV squads.” Coach Jeremy Smith said.
Several Heat players played on Rehobeth’s Class 5A State runner-up team.
