TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — The search for an athletic director is now over for Troy University. The Trojans stayed in house and named Brent Jones to take over the leading role.
Jones served as the Deputy Director of Athletics managing market and ticket sales, but being the athletic director has always been a dream to accomplish. Little did he know, it would be soon.
“I have always wanted to be the athletic director, but you want to be at a school that competes at high level. I know Troy, we have an amazing staff. I felt like we have to keep the momentum we have now. We don’t need to change anything, we just have to move forward,” Jones said.
Jones expressed his vision on how he wants the Trojans to move forward.
“My vision is simple. Compete at a high level, we’re going to win in the classroom and the community. Obviously, we’re going to win on the playing field,” He said.
After the departure of Jeremy McClain, Jones has some big shoes to fill.
“Jeremy was always focused on revenue generation. My job is to move at the same level, our numbers are highest we ever have seen, fundraising, sponsorships and all are great. I just want to help coaches Cross, Chanda, Beth, Mark, as well as Chip. We have to get better as a program,” Jones said.
Jones is set to take over the athletic director duties immediately.
