Local kids shine at Future Masters

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Round two of the Future Masters meant another day for kids from the Wiregrass to show off at a local course.

Heading into the final round of the tournament, two players from Dothan sit inside the top 15.

In 12th, out of Rehobeth, Brantley Scott kept his name in the mix. After day one, Scott was tied for second at four under but he shot a 72 today to set him back to twelfth.

However, he still has a chance to keep the trophy in Dothan.

“Its just gonna take some solid golf, a lot of good players are in the field. The scores are not as low as I thought it would be but that just leaves the door wide open so lets go and take it,” Scott went on to say.

Another Wiregrass kid, Matt Streitman out of Houston Academy sits one shot behind Scott at one under. Streitman shot even par today and he is excited to get back out there tomorrow.

“Knowing I played as well as I did the first six holes, knowing I can do that well starting off, gives me a lot of confidence. You know I’ll just go out there and play aggressive and see if I can sneak in the top ten,” Streitman said.

Tomorrow the final round kicks off early at seven in the morning. The winner is expected to be crowned around two in the afternoon.

Brantley Scott will tee-off at 8:39 in the morning and Matt Streitman will be a few groups ahead at 8:21.
