FLORALA, Ala. (WDHN) — With the COVID-19 pandemic, health officials have encouraged social distancing when exercising.

One activity that has taken off is kayaking – a person by his or her self when oaring on Lake Jackson in Florala city park.

For one Andalusia resident, it’s a great way for him and his family to stay fit while staying at home.

“There’s no upkeep, there’s no motor, no tune up..sit and sit and there’s no upkeep and then come spring you can power around and get some good exercise,” Mark Anderson said.

In addition to kayaking, COVID-19 social distancing recommendations has seen an increase in area residents canoeing and taking part in water activities in general.
