DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston Academy’s Henry Beckett decided on the next step of his football career.
With his family surrounding him, Henry signed a collegiate letter of intent to play for the Miami of Ohio Red Hawks for the next four years. The Red Hawks are in the Mid-American Conference. In 2019, the Red Hawks will play Big Ten teams such as Ohio State and Iowa.
In high school, Beckett placed 75% of his kickoffs into the endzone and ended his career with 20 field goals. Last season, he kicked a 52-yard field goal against G.W. Long.
“From what I read, its a pretty good school academically and historically. The Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger played there,” Beckett said.
Beckett coaches respect him tremendously after coming back to football after a paintful knee injury.
