DALE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — Don Moore enters his third season at head coach of the Dale County Warriors and after going 4-6 in his first two seasons, this one provides some expectations.
The Warriors have lost some seniors from their 2019 team but there is a one constant at the quarterback position.
Ethan Teal will be taking snaps once again and for the senior quarterback, he will be throwing to familiar guys in Jaylon Rozier and Keion Johnson.
“He has come on pretty strong, we are expecting some big things out of him this year,” coach Moore said about his quarterback.
Moore’s outlook on the season is to compete. He expects this Warrior team to be right in the thick of things when it comes to the region championship.
“Our expectation, is that we want to compete for the region championship. That is our motivation right now, that is our drive,” Moore said.
Dale County plays in the 4A region two and this season, the Warriors do not play Catholic Montgomery or Trinity who placed first and second respectively in the region last season.
Now what will it take for the Warriors to be in a better position this season, take care of what they control, week in and week out.
“It comes down to blocking and tackling, like everyone would say, we have to take care of the football and just staying healthy,” said Moore.
To kick off the season, the Warriors will hit the road for their game against Ariton, who they beat to start the season in 2019.
