HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — Many people came out to show their loved ones on the Headland 12U baseball team some love and support as they are getting ready to send off the boys to the World Series in Ruston, Louisiana.
As a refresher, the Headland boys secured their fourth straight Dixie Youth Major title which marked the sixth state championship in the last seven years. The boys received medallions for their success at the send-off pep rally Tuesday evening.
The headland team is hoping to continue the success eight hours away from home.
“We just want to go out there, play the right way, play hard, and represent the community in a way they would be proud,” Coach Carl Bush said.
The players are looking to capture some great memories mainly holding up the trophy.
“We want to win the World Series,” Taylor Bower said.
“I’m looking forward to making memories and really just have a good time in Lousiana,” Collin Phillips said.
One dad said he’s rooting for success as well.
“Go do what you do, give it your all, everything you learned from this point apply it and try to learn more. Dig in and give it 110%,” Wesley Mckenzie said.
The World Series begins August 3. Last year, the team was eliminated in North Carolina. The team hopes things go differently this time around in order to bring the gold home.
