Elba prepares for Lanett in second-round of playoffs

ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — Elba’s interim coach Glen Johnson and his Tigers survived with a victory at home over Marengo last Friday night.

Coach Johnson studied his next opponent against the undefeated Lanett Panthers. The Panthers’ offense is led by 6’4″ Kristen Story.

Story has already committed to the University of Alabama. He’s on pace to break the state’s single-season passing yardage record.

“They have an Alabama commit at quarterback. He can run just as good as he can pass. They have a 5’11” running back and a lot of great athletes on the outside,” Johnson said.

Like Elba, Lanett was a class “powerhouse” with a few state championships before being reclassified to 1A several years ago.
