Auburn’s opener against Alcorn St. cancelled after SWAC cancels season

AUBURN, Ala (WDHN) — Auburn’s season opener against the Alcorn State Bravehawks after the SWAC postpones the 2020 football season.

The SWAC is just the latest FCS conference to postpone fall sports and given that trend, it may be difficult for Auburn to find a replacement game from the FCS level.

This is all considering that the upcoming season will not be different than expected. SEC Commissioner, Greg Sankey, will most likely make a decision on the conference’s fate later this month.

Other Power 5 conferences have made their 2020 slate a conference only affair.

The Tigers were supposed to host the Braves at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Week 1 until the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced Monday that it will postpone all fall sports competition until 2021 due to COVID-19.
