DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn made a stop in Dothan Wednesday night on the Auburn Alumni Association’s AMBUSH tour.

Before signing autographs and speaking to the sold out crowd at Windmill Station, Malzahn answered questions from the media.

Malzahn also broke some big news, narrowing the Tigers’ quarterback race from four to two — redshirt freshman Joey Gatewood and true freshman Bo Nix.

“Joey Gatewood and Bo Nix are really 1, 1A. One of those two guys will be our starting quarterback for our first game,” Malzahn said. “They’ll compete during the summer and during fall camp, and we’ll make a decision.”

Auburn opens the 2019 season again Oregon in Texas at AT&T Stadium as part of the AdvoCare Classic.
