MALVERN, Ala. (WDHN) — Malvern has a head-to-head to both mayoral candidates about how they were feeling about the election coming up on Aug. 25.

Incumbent Mayor Tom Vickers is running for re-election, and Milton Jimmy Harris is running as his opponent.

Both candidates want to update multiple aspects of Malvern, and both said they care for the city and the work that needs to be done.

“A few of the projects we’re hoping to accomplish, it’s going to take time, money, but we’re going to work and keep working,” Vickers said. “That’s all I know to do is work, keep everything above the board, and try to keep making improvements as we go along, and I really want to stay four more years.

While Vickers is currently holding the office, Harris held the mayoral position in the early 2000s and now sits on the city council board as well as the senior citizens center board.

“I just want to have better relationships with our community, with the people here in Malvern,” he said. “Most of them live on these dirt roads, and they’re having a huge problem with the dirt roads and I’d like to try to help solve those problems.

Both candidates want to update the roads to help local businesses and bring more awareness to Malvern.
