DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Murphy Family Restaurants held a free meal campaign for first responders from April 22 to May 6.

Over the two week period, 30 McDonald’s locations owned by the Murphy family gave out over 33,000 free meals to first responders in Alabama.

12,372 meals were given out in Montgomery, 10,437 in Dothan, 1,382 in Ozark, and 1,196 in Enterprise—all to serve those who are serving us.

“We just want to express our gratitude and our thankfulness for all first responders and healthcare workers throughout the state,” said Director of Marketing Eddie Byrd. “We gave 102 thousand meals throughout the state of Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. That’s just so many wonderful people that we can say thank you to.”

While their dining rooms will remain closed for a little longer, customers can still pick up food to-go or by using the drive-through.
