DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass Angel House needs your help to make its Giving Tuesday Boston butt fundraiser a success.
According to Giving Tuesday’s website, Giving Tuesday is “…an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.”
Currently, the organization is in the middle of a Boston butt fundraiser. However, the Wiregrass Angel House is not only taking donations but also also sharing them.
“For Giving Tuesday we decided that we wanted to give back to a couple of other nonprofits in our area,” Wiregrass Angel House Outreach Advocate Katy Lewis said.
“Things are just really weird right now and uncertain,” Lewis told WDHN. “Giving Tuesday is a day that everyone can make an impact on their community and we felt like we also needed to make an impact even though we are a nonprofit we can still help other nonprofits.”
According to The Ark, this fundraiser joins a long list of times the Angel House has supported Wiregrass organizations.
“The Angel House is our neighbor,” The Ark Executive Director Jeff Peacock said. “They’re right across the street from us. We’ve partnered with different things throughout the years and they’ve always been so gracious and kind to help us.”
And it’s not just about food. Peacock says these partnerships indicate the support the Wiregrass has for people in need.
“They (the people The Ark helps) really see how our community cares about them during this time of their life,” Peacock explained.
And when that food does show up:
“Everybody around here is excited,” Peacock said. “It’s different, it’s something we don’t normally offer. Everybody is going to be excited when get those Boston butts in here.”
Although Giving Tuesday has wrapped up, you can still donate a Boston butt to The Ark and The Harbor. To do so, text WAHGT2020 to (202) 858-1233 or click here.
