DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass Angel House hosted its annual National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims. The organization’s goal for the event was to bring victims from tragedy to triumph.
People packed the tent to hear and sing spiritual songs, speeches, and just pay respects to their loved ones who were taken away too soon due to violent crimes.
Despite the sad time, attendees were grateful for Wiregrass Angel House holding the event.
“The main thing a parent wants is for their child to be remembered and this is doing that,” Wanda Fryer said. “I just told him even though this is a trigger for sad times, its a really happy event to bring us all together because I haven’t seen him in months. This event let us remember our loved ones.”
Immediately after the service, families of victims’ released balloons in remembrance of their loved ones.
