DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass Angel House held its annual Christmas party.

This event provides comfort to victims’ families who were taken by homicide. While it may be a tough time for many, Santa Claus made a stop to make sure the tradition of the Christmas ornament, a shoe, was placed on the Christmas tree in remembrance of those whose lives were cut short.

City officials and county officials were also in attendance to lend their support.

“It’s a time for us to say thank you to law enforcement, it’s a time for the families to come out and have a little fun to let people know it’s not always sad here and we have fun,” Shelly Linderman said.

Law enforcement agencies and family members of the victims mingled over good food, good music, and even in the midst of sadness, they both found a way to smile.
