DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Christmas was a couple of weeks ago, but a seventh-grader at Dothan Prep Academy received a gift she was wishing for. That surprise came in the middle of her lesson on Australia wildfires.
“It’s been about a year since I have seen my family so I just got back from the middle east and I saw my son and the rest of my family and then got to surprise our daughter at school,” said Jason Wayt, a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer.
Chief Jason Wayt returns home from his third deployment. He was stationed in Syria since 2019.
Rileigh McCollister told WDHN she was super excited for her father’s arrival.
Chief Jason Wayt will spend the next 30 days with his family.
