DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – We’re mild and dry this morning but rain is moving through Alabama as we speak. We look to stay dry for the majority of our day with highs reaching the upper 70s. Clouds will build throughout the day ahead of our next frontal system.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to reach the Wiregrass later this evening. Some of those storms have the potential to become severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the majority of the viewing area under a Marginal (1 out of 5) risk. Pike and Barbour counties are included in a Slight (2 out of 5) risk. The greatest threat will be damaging winds but a tornado warning or two is not out of the question.
The rain will clear before many of us wake up Tuesday morning but scattered showers will return Tuesday night. Highs will stay in the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday before warming back up in the 70s for the weekend.
