Verdict reached in officer shootout case


DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A verdict has been reached in the case of a Houston County man who fired upon local law enforcement after they came to serve a warrant related to another incident.

Jaccarius Montrail Dawsey, 18, was indicted on five counts of attempted murder. On March 26, he pleaded guilty to assaulting federal officers and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

A Houston County jury found him guilty of reckless endangerment and 3 attempted assaults.
