DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It’s not just cities putting on big parades during the holidays.
The Vaughn-Blumberg center which helps adults with intellectual disabilities lead more independent lives held their ninth annual Christmas parade at their center on Flynn Road in Dothan.
The center puts on the yearly parade to help the staff and community members get into the holiday spirit and throughout the years they’ve had a pretty good mix of participants.
“The people who come here that we serve with our activity programs they come out and the parade is for them,” Director of Day Programs Sheri Maupin said. “We’ve had three bands at a time in one parade and we always have the junior civitans from Dale County high school come out. We’ve had Northview cheerleaders come out, the Shriners, it varies from year to year.”
Vaughn Blumberg helps out around 200 community members in Houston County. You can head over to VaughnBlumbergServices.com to learn about the programs they offer.
