Enterprise, Alabama (May 2, 2017) – Effective today, Suzanne Woods leaves her position as Chief Executive Officer at Flowers Hospital to assume the CEO role at Medical Center Enterprise, while J. Heath Phillips makes the reverse transition from CEO at Medical Center Enterprise to CEO at Flowers Hospital. The two leaders have worked collaboratively since 2014 when Phillips joined Flowers Hospital as chief operating officer.

Suzanne Woods
Woods established a strong record of effective leadership at Flowers Hospital, where she grew facilities and services to support a sustained record of quality care for patients and the community. Over 22 years, she held many positions at the hospital, including administrative resident, medical staff coordinator, vice president of professional services and chief operating officer before being named CEO in 2011.

Flowers Hospital grew physically and operationally during her tenure through the addition of two floors, expansion of surgical services and establishment of a multispecialty practice with more than 30 physicians. She created an environment where medical staff and employees work collaboratively to provide quality care for patients as demonstrated by Flowers’ 4-star rating on Hospital Compare and consistent recognition as a Joint Commission Top Performer honors in pneumonia, surgical care, heart attack care and acute myocardial infarction. As Woods assumes her new leadership role in Enterprise, she will focus on to strengthening the hospital’s services in the community and identifying new synergies with Flowers to serve the broader region.

He will continue work underway at Flowers Hospital to expand neurology and neurosurgery services, build on strong surgical and cardiovascular services and grow the base of primary care physicians.

Phillips brings more than a decade of healthcare leadership experience to his new role, having previously served as CEO and COO at hospitals and rehabilitation centers in Alabama and Florida.
