UPDATE 6:42: Troy police have just confirmed the body found to be Kathryn Davis. They have ruled the death as a homicide and are conducting “a very active criminal investigation.”

Investigators are following up on leads now.

TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — On Wednesday, September 26, the Troy Police Department was notified by a family member just before 7:00 p-m that Kathryn Louise Davis was reported missing.

Kathryn Davis, a 5’5″ 33-year-old, and weighing approximately 130 pounds was last seen on Kelly Road near U.S. 231, that is until Troy police found a body on Pike County Road 1185 just off Pike County Road 1128.

“She’s been missing since Monday, and by me posting and texting and calling, no response,” Laquindra Grimes, Davis’s friend says. “I just knew something wasn’t right, but I guess you know Saturday morning that’s when they found her.”

Grimes says once the body was found Davis’s brother was able to identify the body, however officers were not able to positively identify it was Davis due to decomposition from being left in the woods, and the family believes that someone was involved in her death.

“If he can do this to her, right here when her kids, knowing that they have already lost their father,” Grimes says, “so now they have no mother or father, if he can do that to her, he can do it to anyone else.”

“He’s a sick person, he doesn’t have no remorse for anybody,” Fredia Simmons, Davis’s godmother says.

The body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, and Simmons asks that if you know anything to come forward and share it.

“If anybody please know anything of his whereabouts, if you see him anywhere, just please contact the police department, so they can get him in custody,” Simmons says.
