U.S. Senate candidate makes campaign stop in Geneva

GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore spoke at the Geneva Republican women club meeting.

Judge Moore is running for the U.S. Alabama seat currently held by Democrat Doug Jones. Two years ago in a special election, Moore lost to Jones.

The judge says the U.S. Alabama Senator Richard Shelby and senate majority leader Mitch McConnell conspired to defeat him.

“It was one person who went on statewide television and said don’t vote for the Republican candidate it was republican Senator Richard Shelby. Jones was elected due to the establishment,” Rep. Moore said.

In recent Republican primary poll numbers, Moore is running a distant fourth behind U.S. Congressman Bradley Byrne, former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville.
