EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Eufaula Police Department is looking into multiple stabbings that happened Wednesday night.

According to a release from Chief Steven Watkins, two people were hurt in two unrelated incidents.

The first happened in a convenience store parking lot on State Docks Road at 8:40 p.m.

Julene Mwaura Carter, 48, of Eufaula was found inside in the store, having been stabbed twice in the upper body region.

Eufaula Fire and Rescue personnel took Carter to Medical Center Barbour for treatment.

Police have identified a suspect but didn’t release the name.

Meanwhile, almost an hour later, officers responded to an assault call on Norman Street. They later caught up with the victim, Joe Lee Upshaw, 48 of Eufaula at Medical Center Barbour, as he was taken there via a private vehicle before police arrived at the scene.

Upshaw told officers that his girlfriend Denise Lashune White, 29, of Eufaula stabbed him in the upper body. One of the officers knew who she was and saw her leaving the hospital parking lot.

The officer stopped White and arrested her on second-degree domestic violence. She now waits for her bond hearing at the Eufaula City Jail.
