Two shot at Ozark house party

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — Two men were shot in the Briar Hill Court area early Sunday morning.

“Officers received a call of shots fired in the area of Briar Hill Court to include multiple subjects fighting at a house party,” Ozark Sgt. Everett Evans said.

Police don’t know what caused the fighting, but some residents have some ideas.

“They say it started with some ladies, and then they called a brother in, the one that got shot,” resident Stanley Cooper said. “They say he’s the one that started shooting or something. Then all bullets just went so, as far as the shooters, I don’t have no recollection of that, but I know it was many shots.”

Many shots indeed, one even went through the window of Mr. Cooper’s house. One woman said these shooters are putting everyone at risk.

“What they’re not realizing, these young men right now that’s doing all this stupid stuff got children of their own,” resident Hazel Lynn Carson said.

She also wants these men to think before they shoot.

“Every time you sitting there thinking you trying to (showboat) and prove a point to somebody, what if somebody pulled that trigger on your little 2-year-old?” Carson said.

Both men were taken to Southeast Health to be treated for their injuries.
