Troy University to temporarily cancel classes, activities ahead of Zeta


TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — Troy University has canceled all evening in-person classes and acitivties after 5 p.m. Wednesday due to weather concerns.

All Alabama locations will also remain open until 5 p.m. This is due to the latest forecast for Hurricane Zeta, which could bring tropical-storm-force winds and a marginal risk for tornadoes.

“We encourage all students, faculty and staff to monitor weather conditions and be alert for rapidly changing conditions,” a release from the university states. “All students and employees are encouraged to ensure that they have set up their accounts to receive emergency notifications via SMS (text messaging) by visiting and selecting the Login link.”

The university will return to normal operations Thursday morning.
