Troy man charged with sodomy, rape, robbery against woman


TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Troy man faces numerous charges after being arrested in a rape investigation, according to police.

The Troy Police Department was called to Academy Street at around 4:07 a.m. Friday about a person inside a home with a gun.

When officers walked up to the home, they spotted a man trying to leave the area. A TPD release states the man, Tevin Rashad Darby, tried to run away but was taken into custody.

The release goes on to say officers spoke to the victim and her roommate, who called 911, and were told Darby broke into the home armed with a pistol, sexually assaulted the victim, and took her property. He ran away when he saw officers approaching.

Police did locate a pistol as well as the victim’s belongings during the foot pursuit.

The victim was taken to Troy Regional Medical Center.

Darby faces charges for first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, first-degree sodomy, and first-degree rape. He was booked into to the Pike County Jail on a $350,000 bond.

As of the latest update from police, the Troy Police Department and the Pike County District Attorney’s Office are still investigating the situation.
