DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Many train lovers gathered at the National Peanut Fairgrounds for the two-day Wiregrass Model Railroad Show and Sale Saturday.
At the event, there were about eight different realistic train layouts, food, plenty of vendors selling model trains, and even a real train ride for the kids to enjoy.
The president of Wiregrass Steel Wheels hopes the show will spark interest in kids.
“Well besides the thrill of it like I said earlier, I want these younger kids to take it as a hobby,” George Baum said. “It’s not easy to do, but its a lot of fun and you gotta understand what that means. They will have a lot of fun doing it, but it can be frustrating at times.”
The club hopes next year’s show is bigger and better. Next year’s show will make for the 30th year.
