DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — With only 18 days until kickoff for the 2019 football season, many teams are preparing for their game one opponent.
One of the teams people will be keeping a close eye on is the Alabama Crimson Tide, and while Coach Nick Saban is probably going over film, the school’s athletic director made a stop in Dothan Tuesday afternoon.
“I wanted to talk a little bit about business and management, hopefully inspiring people to go create value and the people that they work with in the businesses,” Athletic Director Greg Byrne said. “Then at the same time to balance it out with talking to them about the University of Alabama and Alabama athletics.”
The athletic department is excited to get the season underway and feels they have a talented team.
“The expectation levels are always very high,” Byrne said. “Coach Saban and his staff and the team have done such a great job of preparing for this year and staying focused on our first game against Duke.”
Byrne said that one advantage Alabama has is the support they receive throughout the state and across the nation.
“The support they give us, we’re very fortunate,” Byrne said. “So to be here in the Wiregrass, in Dothan, great fans, great support, we just want to get here and say thank you.”
When asked about the possibility of hearing Dixieland Delight in Bryant-Denny Stadium again this year, Byrne said that it’s a great tradition they want to continue, but people have to do it responsibly.
